Opioid Abatement Community Grant Program Awards $411,690 in Third Responsive Grant Cycle

Granite United Way today announced the results of the third Opioid Abatement Community Grant Program responsive grant cycle, awarding $411,690 to 29 organizations across New Hampshire. The funded projects span all counties and priority domains, supporting evidence-informed and community-driven initiatives designed to address the ongoing impacts of the opioid crisis.

The selected proposals demonstrated strong alignment with the program’s strategic priorities and reflect the full continuum of care, including prevention, treatment, harm reduction, recovery, and community capacity building. Together, these awards will strengthen critical services, expand access to supports, and advance local solutions tailored to the needs of New Hampshire communities.

“This third responsive grant cycle shows the depth of commitment across our state to addressing the opioid crisis in practical, community-centered ways,” said Shannon Swett, Chief Impact Officer at Granite United Way. “These funds are helping organizations respond to real needs on the ground, whether that means expanding recovery supports, strengthening prevention strategies, improving outreach, or building workforce capacity. The strength of this program is that it allows resources to move closer to the people and communities most impacted.”

The third responsive cycle drew significant interest, with 58 applications submitted by organizations working to address the complex and evolving effects of the opioid epidemic. Projects funded through this round include initiatives focused on expanding access to recovery supports, strengthening family-centered prevention strategies, enhancing community outreach and education, and improving workforce capacity to respond to opioid-related emergencies.

Granite United Way continues to provide individualized technical assistance and virtual information sessions to support applicants in developing strong, compliant proposals. Future responsive grant opportunities will build on lessons learned from this cycle, with a continued emphasis on projects that demonstrate clear, measurable community impact.

The Opioid Abatement Community Grant Program is administered by Granite United Way in partnership with the New Hampshire Department of Health and Human Services and the Opioid Abatement Advisory Commission.
